Geotechnical Engineering

Geotechnical Engineering utilizes the disciplines of rock and soil mechanics to investigate and evaluate subsurface geologic conditions. Geotechnical investigations are used to design and construct foundations, earth structures and pavement sub-grades. Material Testing Services has been providing geotechnical engineering services in North Dakota, South Dakota and Montana for over 25 years.

Our Geotechnical Services include the following:

  • Subsurface explorations
  • In-Situ testing
  • Slope stability analysis
  • Shallow foundations, including analysis for settlement and bearing capacity
  • Deep foundations including driven piles, drilled shafts, drilled piers, helical piers and augercast piles
  • Earth retaining structures
  • Limited Forensic Engineering
  • Construction inspection of all foundation types
  • Pavement analysis and design
  • Percolation tests
